Kristen Johnston at Pasadena Recovery Center
Kristen Johnston will be at Pasadena Recovery Center on March 12th noon
Sharing about her recent New York Times Best Seller, “Guts”
GUTS is a beautifully-written and deeply personal memoir that is simultaneously tragic, hysterical, sweet, and heartbreakingly honest. Johnston’s intimate narrative is distinctly her own as she describes her poignant and painful decent into addiction—and yet she manages to tell her story without an ounce of self-pity or blame. Her brutally incisive wit drives her story, which begins with her torment in Catholic Grade school for being “A Freak” (she was 6 feet by age twelve), and covers everything from her rise to overnight fame to her stunningly frank opinions of “celebrity.” But make no mistake, this is not simply a book about addiction, fame, or sobriety. This is a book about someone who started their life over in their late 30’s. Someone who found the courage to change their life, accept their flaws and become, as she puts it, “A brave, decent person. Someone I might actually like.”

Actress Mackenzie Phillips Joins Pasadena Recovery Center as “Recovery & Treatment Advocate”
The Pasadena Recovery Center announced on October 1st that they are teaming up with actress Mackenzie Phillips to help educate the public about addiction and recovery. Phillips, an outspoken voice in the community, will be joining Pasadena Recovery Center as the new Recovery and Treatment Advocate. She will be involved in community relations, educational outreach and will host a weekly group meeting. As an alumni of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, she became familiar with the center during filming of the hit reality television series.
“As an addict/alcoholic in recovery, I’m so passionate about helping others find a new way to live,” said Mackenzie Phillips. “Teaming up with Pasadena Recovery Center is an opportunity to do just that. We are in the grip of an epidemic, but there is a solution!”
“I’m very excited about teaming up with Mackenzie Phillips. She brings a lot of enthusiasm and is a welcome addition to the Pasadena Recovery Center Team,” said Michael Bloom co-founder of Pasadena Recovery Center.
